Doesn’t if feel amazing when your characters level up? Enemies that seemed invincible become a fountain of XP, gold and items! But think about when you download a new game and start from scratch. What does that feel like, when you’re completely clueless? And most importantly, why do you keep going?

How many times have your characters died, respawned, and gained XP or you tried a different approach until they finished a Quest? If you’re like me, you could spend days like this. Maybe they need a new weapon, different armor, or simply more XP. So you send them off to get it, make improvements and tweaks over and over again until they finally make it!
But what about the character in front of the screen right now? The one reading this. How many skills do YOU have when it comes to your love life? What do YOU do when faced with a challenge? Do you accept it, learn, and try again or do you just give up in frustration?
Many years ago, well before online multiplayer was a thing, I used to spend hours on end leveling up characters, killing enemies, and finding secret items. All hosted in my bedroom’s PC. But one day the hard drive died. RAID was too expensive and cloud backup was not a thing. So with it went all my effort and sleepless nights killing low-level kobolds just to beat a damn wizard. That’s when I decided to start leveling myself up instead. I became the character in my own campaign, finding quests and gaining skills as I go along. And it’s been working quite well, actually!

So here’s an idea: you’re your own character in a very badly written isekai story. Sorry, you can’t choose a race. You’re human, and you’re stuck with it. Yes, I know. Who would choose Human?? Anyway, you started at a random location on the map as level 1 with no cheats, tutorial, manual, or walkthrough guide. All you could do was watch other players. Some were more experienced and seemed to have been born with maxed-out skills and XP, and others were n00bs just like you.
Fast-forward a few years. You’ve leveled up, mastered some skills and gained items. But if you’re reading this, you’re likely still missing something in your quest to improve your love life. Whether you’re looking for a new party member to grind with (wink, wink!) or you’re having issues with your current one, in here you’ll find new skills and mindsets that might help you make the necessary changes. After all, you can have more fun with someone else by your side. Granted, you could hire… mercenaries… who will… grind with you for money, buuuuut… it’s not the same.

However, not everything you find here will be relevant to you. When you’re playing a Wizard, finding a double axe won’t be too exciting other than to sell it for some gold. The same goes for this blog. You’ll hopefully find some of the content useful, or even eye-opening. But if something doesn’t feel relevant or even seems useless, that’s fine. These are all just Skills you can choose from depending on your Character and your Campaign.
Just remember it’s your Game and your Life. You choose.
Are you ready to get started?
